Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Philippians 4:8
The context of the memory verse is God speaking through Moses to Pharaoh. Any time God raises someone up it is so that His power and name can be proclaimed in all the earth. God hardened Pharaoh’s heart so that all of the plagues would come to pass, because God was revealing His power and name. Everything that the Egyptians worshiped as “gods” is GOD.
This will be our Old Testament study for 2019 and will focus on God’s power displayed in the book of Exodus as God used an unexpected “shepherd” to lead His people out of Egypt. God used plagues to reveal Himself to His people and to a king whose heart was hardened. The Exodus story is all about how God used His power to make Himself known to His people.
