TRIp faq

What types of trips are available?

  • Student Trip - students involved with MCC's Student Ministry. Must be 14-18 years old. All minors must fill out an application and parental waiver to be considered for a trip. Must go through application process.

  • Anyone - individuals and /or groups (age 14 and older). Must go through application process. Age exceptions may be made if families want to travel together.

What types of things will I be doing on a trip?
Trips will include various elements. We could help run a local church's Vacation Bible School, train local village leaders, participate in music & evangelism activities, etc. As the team forms and we start to learn about each team member's gifts and talents, we will work together to customize a trip according to who is participating. Overall, pray and ask God for direction and confirmation as you consider this opportunity.

By applying, am I committing to the trip? When am I officially committed?
No, you are not committing by submitting your application. After the teams are selected a team leader will contact you and confirm your commitment to the trip. Once committed, you are responsible for an initial deposit (non-refundable) and to pay for your plane ticket if for any reason you are unable to go on the trip.

Where do I get the money to go on a trip?
You and the rest of your team will gather support from others. We have found that many people don’t have the time or ability to go on a short-term global outreach trip but have the desire to be involved in some way with these kinds of ventures. We ask, therefore, that every person going on a trip raise his/her funds by writing letters to friends and family sharing the goal of the trip and the financial requirements to make their trip happen. Trip members can also create online public profiles through ManagedMissions (similar to GoFundMe) and have online donations directly funneled into their trip accounts. Consequently each year, hundreds of trip goers raise thousands of dollars as their supporters generously join in the adventure of short-term trips.

How does someone donate to my trip?

  • Online - Create a public profile through ManagedMissions and share the link so that people can make trip donations directly to you online.

  • Check - Have them make a check out to Manchester Christian Church and leave the memo line blank (so their contribution remains tax deductible).

    • Make sure they attach a sticky note to the check indicating which team member the donation is for.

    • Enclose it in an envelope and put it in any lobby offering box at any campus. It can also be mailed to:

                 Manchester Christian Church
                 ATTN: Finance Department
                 1308 Wellington Road
                 Manchester, NH 03104

What is the time commitment for participating in a global trip?
It is ultimately up to the Team Leader as to how often their team meets together but it would be at least once a month. As you get closer to your trip that will increase. Your team may also decide to set aside time for support raising events as well.

What if I don’t have a passport?
Please start the process now if you are thinking of participating. http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html

After you receive your new passport number update your application with that information. You will also need to make a copy of your passport application and/or passport and give it to your team leader at the first team meeting. As per new rules for international airline travel, we are required to capture and send the expiration date of passport for booking travel, so we will need that information as soon as possible. If your passport expires less than six months after your departure date, you will need to renew your passport as soon as possible. Additionally, if you have a non-US passport, you are responsible for finding out if a visa is required for you to travel to a specific country.

Do I have to be a church member of MCC to participate in a trip?
You do not have to be a member of our church to apply for a trip. However, you do need to attend one of our three campuses regularly and to have attended a NEXT class in order to go on a trip. Trip participants meet together regularly, so we ask that everyone attend one of our campuses in the greater Manchester area so they can be active participants throughout the entire process.

Can I travel to another destination or stay longer at my destination?
No. It is imperative to team unity and for liability reasons that everyone travels together.
