CHILD-SAFE CERTIFICATION AND FIRST SERVE FAQS

What is a child-safe certification and first serve class?

This is the class we use to help people explore the many roles in Rockoloedon. MCC requires that all workers in the classroom go through a child-safe certification. In order to show you all the areas of the ministry and still honor our policies, we take you on a tour and discuss the policies as we go.

Do I have to take the class?

Yes, everyone who wants to work with kids or wants to see how these programs work (First Serve) here at MCC has to take this class and complete an application (if you desire to serve).

How long is the class?

The class runs concurrent with the service times (about one hour).

What does the Child-Safe/First Serve class consist of?

The class consists of a live tour though the Rockolodeon area, an explanation of our Family Ministry guidelines, and a question and answer time.

When are the classes offered?

The classes are offered the 3rd Sunday of most months during the 10:00 AM service in Room 103. Upon registration, you will be notified to confirm the next class date, time, and room.

Can you describe the details to the child-safe certification?

Every person must complete this class, an application to serve, and have attended MCC for over six months. We then complete a criminal background check (from information on the application), call all three references, email our staff and elders everyone’s name for approval, and arrange a one-on- one interview to complete the process and begin placement.

What is the minimum age to work in Rockolodeon or Fusion?

Your must be in fourth grade or above to work in Rockolodeon (placement is at our discretion) and you must be 19 or older to serve in Fusion (once again, placement is at our discretion).

I just want to substitute, will I still need to complete the class?

Yes, everyone working with our kids must be certified.

What is required of substitutes?

Substitutes are required to serve a minimum of one out of every four weeks and do not get to choose their area of serving (that is reserved for those committing to serve regularly). The schedule is completed for the entire year in advance and any dates that can not be fulfilled require a pre-notification. The schedule is mailed out upon placement.

Are there other areas to serve within the Family Ministry that do not require certification?

Yes, you can contact the Family Ministry Office at 603.622.9677 ext. 3006 to inquire about other areas.

Who can I speak with about some other questions or concerns?

You can contact Lorayne VanDeventer by email at lvandeventer@manchesterchristian.com or by phone at 603.622.9677 ext. 3006.
